Not every Indian home has well-lit windows, and many interior rooms get almost no natural light. Artificial lighting can fill that gap if set up right.
What's happening
Grow lights provide specific wavelengths for photosynthesis—mainly red and blue spectrum. Unlike sunlight, they generate far less heat, so you can place them close without scorching. LED grow lights are widely available online in India for 300-500 rupees.
Why this happens
Plants mainly use red light for flowering and blue for foliage. A standard daylight LED at 6500K provides a usable spectrum for foliage houseplants. Dedicated grow lights with balanced red-blue output work better for herbs and flowering plants like adenium.
What usually helps
Position light 15-30 cm above the plant. Run it 10-12 hours daily using a plug-in timer—consistency matters more than intensity. A 12-20W bulb supports two to three small pots. Strip LEDs under shelves work well for kitchen herbs.
What to expect next
Growth will not match outdoor sun, but plants stay healthy and green under consistent artificial light. Expect steady compact growth with visible improvement in two to three weeks.
